Day 1 of 3 Days Akagera Wildlife Safari Rwanda: Transfer to Akagera National Park from Kigali City

The day will kick off with morning breakfast which you will be picked up by our professional driver who might also double as the tour guide depending on the arrangement. You will be given a short briefing on how the day will be conducted and what to expect on this safari.

You will then set off from either the airport or your current hotel of residence and head to Akagera Rainforest Park with several stopovers at some of the most noticeable places along the journey. The journey is normally not beyond 3 hours in duration but can be influenced by the time spent at each stopover.

One of the irresistible stopovers along the way is the visit to the Rwanda Genocide Memorial Center where the remains of the mass killings have been kept since then. You will be able to witness this sad incident and also sight the skulls of the victims that were killed in these ruthless tribal attacks.

You will then have lunch and re-embark on the journey to Akagera Rainforest Park. Every criterion or necessary paperwork will be handled by the Rwanda tour guide and you will receive clearance to proceed with the game drive. While on the game drive, the tour guide will be instrumental in easily spotting different animals in the park such as elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, lions, and many more. After checking in, you may choose to have an evening game drive or rest and thereafter have dinner and spend the rest of the night at the hotel.

Day 2 of 3 Days Akagera Wildlife Safari Rwanda: Morning game drive and a boat ride along Lake Ihema

After a sound night on your first day, this day will start off with breakfast followed by a short briefing by the tour guide on how the day’s program will be run. The game drive will then kick off with our tour guide making it as interesting as possible by offering to show you all the hiding spots for different animals in the park.

This amazing drive in the jungle lasts between 3 to 6 hours depending on the animals you are looking out for and these may vary from lions, buffaloes, leopards, and warthogs among others. This game drive is of double benefit to any bird enthusiast as he will get to sight over 300 species of birds within the park.

You will then return to the hotel for a short lunch and have a short time to relax as you wait to be driven off by the guide for yet another mind-blowing experience on Lake Ihema.

Here, you will have a gentle boat ride as you take photos of the moment, spot large multitudes of hippos sunbathing along the shores of the lake, and birds singing their natural soothing “songs” which are a great mind relaxer if you pay attention to the sound with enthusiasm. After all the activities above, you will be driven back to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3 of 3 Days Akagera Wildlife Safari Rwanda: Return to Kigali for departure.

It’s borne in every traveller’s mind that this day comes with a lot of expectations some of which are adrenaline kick-starters especially in a scenario where one wishes to see more of the animals than he did on the previous days of the tour.

Being the last day of the Rwanda safari trip, you will start your day with an early morning breakfast and then set off with the tour guide to the park as you get to witness a number of bird species and more animals in the park.

There will have numerous stopovers and also get a chance to do local shopping as well as interact with the local natives of the communities. You will then check out and drive to the airport to catch up with the departure flight; if the return flight does not.
